Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to revise the list of US Midwest average-freight locations included in its US Midwest Aluminum Transaction Premium assessment in line with evolving market practice, effective Jan. 2, 2026.
Platts currently lists these following locations as average freight for inclusion in its US Midwest Aluminum Transaction Premium assessment (MMAKE00):
In an effort to reflect common practice in the market, Platts proposes to add five average-freight locations to the stated list for inclusion in its US Midwest Aluminum Transaction Premium assessment, effective Jan. 2. Locations proposed for addition are: Bowling Green and Guthrie, KY; Alcoa, TN; Uhrichsville, OH; and Davenport, IA.
Platts also proposes removing two locations from the existing average-freight list. Locations proposed for removal are: Anderson, IN; and Manitowoc, WI.
The proposed average-freight locations would apply to the following assessments:
| Assessment name | Symbol |
| US Aluminum Transaction Premium | MMAKE00 |
| US Aluminum Transaction Price (All-in) | MMAAF10 |
| US Low-Carbon Aluminum Premium (US LCAP) | ALCRA00 |
| US Aluminum Net-Cash Premium | MMACN00 |
| Aluminum P1020 MW US Transaction Premium (Implied Duty Unpaid) | MMOFU00 |
This list of average-freight locations would be reviewed by Platts on an annual basis or more frequently, depending on market dynamics. Any updates or changes to the list would be clarified in future subscriber notes published by Platts.
The assessments are published in Platts Metals Daily and Metals Week, on fixed pages PMA/MTL412 and 413 and in the Platts price database under the codes listed above.
Platts invites feedback, comments and questions on this proposal to metalsamericas@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by Dec. 11.
