SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to re-name Platts Low Vol 12 Ash PCI to Mid Tier PCI

Platts seeks industry feedback on a proposal to re-name its Platts Low Vol 12 Ash PCI assessments (MCLAA00, MCLAC00, MCVAI00) to Mid Tier PCI. The proposed change comes in response to industry feedback that the current name appears as too restrictive in terms of the specifications that are included in price formation. The assessments reflect not only coals with low volatile matter and high ash, but also mid-vol, lower ash coals. For this reason, the new name could be more inclusive. Should the change be finalized, the renaming of the assessments would start from April 1, 2015.
