Platts clarifies exclusion of additional energy surcharges from European polystyrene assessments

Following growing discussion of energy surcharges in the European polystyrene market, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, wishes to clarify the exclusion of additional energy surcharges from its polystyrene assessments.

Platts polystyrene general purpose (GPPS), high impact (HIPS) and expandable (EPS) assessments reflect freely-negotiated net contract prices which do not include additional surcharges.

Platts prioritizes transparent and verifiable data that has been tested in the market and reflects the negotiated and mutually-agreed absolute price, not including any additional surcharges.
