Platts proposes to launch beef tallow FOB East Coast Australia weekly assessment, Jan. 7

Platts is proposing to launch a weekly Australian beef tallow assessment on a FOB East Coast Australia basis, effective Jan. 7, 2026.

Platts has observed increasing exports of Australian beef tallow, particularly to the US, Singapore, as well as other locations such as Japan, China and Malaysia, due to growing demand from the sustainable aviation fuels and renewable diesel industry. The new assessment would align with the need for pricing transparency in the region.

The assessment would reflect the price basis at Brisbane ports, East Coast Australia, on an FOB basis. Pricing information from other East Coast ports, such as Melbourne and Sydney, may be taken into consideration and normalized back to the basis location.

The proposed assessment would have the following specifications:

AssessmentPublication DaySpecificationVolumeTimingPayment
Beef tallow FOB East Coast AustraliaWednesday

FFA maximum of 2%

MIU maximum of 1%

5,000 – 10,000 mt30-60 days forwardLetter of Credit (L/C)

The proposed assessment would be published in US dollar/mt ($/mt), reflecting the latest information sourced from the market up until the close at 4:30 pm Singapore time on Wednesdays and following the Singapore calendar.

The proposed assessment would consider market information reported to Platts and published throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, transactions and indications, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

The proposed weekly assessment would be published on the real-time Platts Biofuels Alert, in the daily Platts Biofuelscan, the Weekly Biomass-Based Diesel Report, and in the Platts price database.
