Subscriber note: Platts to end 27.5kt Europe dirty tanker assessments

Platts proposes to discontinue a series of dirty tanker rate assessments for certain European fuel oil routes, reflecting changes in European supply flows that have made the routes less commonly used in the market. Under its proposal, Platts would discontinue the assessment of the following 27.5 kt dirty routes with effect from May 1, 2013: for Baltic-UK/Continent; UK/Continent-Mediterranean; and Cross Mediterranean (Med-Med). Platts would continue to assess the value of 30kt tankers moving across these routes. This note updates and supersedes an announcement from Platts published on June 18, 2012, when Platts initially proposed suspending its UK/Continent-Mediterranean 27.5kt dirty freight rate assessments. The following specific assessments, and associated data, would be discontinued from May 1, 2013. These assessments are published in the Platts Dirty Tankerwire, on Platts Global Alert page 946, and in Platts market data services:
