Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch new assessments for domestic gasoline markets in the Brazilian South/Southeast regions on an FCA basis, effective Nov. 10.
These will complement the existing suite of gasoline FCA assessments in the Northeast, which were first-to-market when launched on March 31, and gasoline DAP assessments across the country. Platts will also be the first to cover gasoline FCA markets in South/Southeast Brazil.
The expansion of domestic Brazilian coverage is part of Platts' commitment to provide greater price transparency to the evolving spot market landscape in Brazil.
Effective Nov. 10, Platts will begin publication of daily gasoline FCA assessments for Santos and Paranagua, both in Brazilian Real per cubic meter and US cents/gal, alongside their weekly and monthly averages.
These assessments will reflect prompt spot transactions of 300-2,000 cu m in volume, for delivery up to seven days forward from the date of publication.
Although South/Southeast markets are traditionally long of gasoline due to local production exceeding demand needs, participants have been eyeing import opportunities more closely, especially amid an open arbitrage window, leading to Santos and Paranagua recording a higher import influx than the main gasoline import hubs of Suape and Itaqui.
Cargoes often originate in the US Gulf Coast and Europe's Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub, as well as Russia. Platts FCA assessments reflect material available at the tanks, regardless of origin.
These new assessments will consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades and indicative values, as well as other relevant data.
The daily assessments will reflect a 4:30 pm Sao Paulo time stamp and will follow the Platts Sao Paulo publishing schedule.
Details of the new Platts gasoline FCA assessments are as follows:
| Description | Symbols (BRL/CBM) | Symbols (cents/gal) |
| Gasoline FCA Santos | GASCE00 | GASCF00 |
| Gasoline FCA Paranagua | GASCG00 | GASCH00 |
The assessments will be published in the Brazil Fuels Market Report (and its Portuguese version, Panorama Combustíveis Brasil), Latin American Wire, US Marketscan and on Platts Global Alert and Platts Refined Products Alert fixed pages 164, 165, 370, 371, 1631, 1638 and 2040.
