Platts launches new HDG steel price series in the US, based on HRC substrate

Effective November 2, 2021, S&P Global Platts has launched a new hot-dip galvanized steel coil price series, based on a hot-rolled coil substrate. The existing price index continues to be published with restated specifications to reflect a cold-rolled coil substrate galvanized coil. As part of this change, Platts has renamed its existing daily HDG price to Platts TSI US HDG-CRC EXW Indiana.

The new daily price reflects coil with minimum thickness of 0.056" and a width of 48-72". The existing price now reflects coil with minimum thickness of 0.028" up to 0.086"and a width of 48-72".

Both prices reflect HDG coil of new manufacture with chemical and mechanical tolerances based on ASTM A 653, CS Type B, excluding zinc-based coating extra. The prices are reflective of minimum 100 st clips tradable in the spot market for delivery 4-12 weeks from the date of publication and with payment terms of net 30 days after delivery.
