Platts discontinues Mesa 30 and Santa Barbara crude price assessments

Platts, a part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued publishing price assessments for Venezuela's Mesa 30 and Santa Barbara crudes effective Nov. 1 due to declining production and a lack of spot market activity. Platts also will no longer publish yields and netbacks for Mesa 30 crude.

Platts understands there is no spot-market activity for the Venezuelan grades Santa Barbara and Mesa 30. US sanctions have curtailed Venezuela production and trading activity, and market participants do not anticipate normal activity to resume. Market sources indicate there has been no spot trade of these grades in in nearly a decade.

The discontinuation will affect the following codes:
