Platts to rename Hail Creek metallurgical coal brand to GLV

S&P Global Platts has decided to rename the daily metallurgical coal brand assessment of Hail Creek to GLV effective from January 1, 2020.

The change applies to the existing assessment Hail Creek CFR China [Code: MCBAF00, Mavg: MCBAF03], as well as Hail Creek FOB Australia [Code: HCHCA00, Mavg: HCHCA03], which will be launched on November 1, 2019, as announced in the following subscriber note: http://plts.co/CCx230pL0nL

The decision aligns with market practice, following the change of ownership of the Hail Creek coal mine in Queensland, Australia, as well as the change of coal brand name from Hail Creek to GLV, in 2019.

The prolonged notice period is given to provide sufficient time to market participants using this relativities assessment in contracts to make any necessary adjustments.

Platts will assess the GLV coal brand as per typical specifications.

It will be published together with other brand assessments on page 9 of SBB Steel Markets Daily, page 8 of Coal Trader International, on fixed pages MV1064 and MV1066 on the Platts Metals Alert, in the Platts Market Center and in Platts price database under the abovementioned codes.
