Platts assesses Mexico and Chile I-RECs in US dollars, converting to other currencies

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the methodology for its Chile and Mexico I-REC assessments, effective Oct. 21, 2024.

Following this change, the Mexico and Chile I-REC assessments will be assessed in US dollars. Platts will also publish a conversion of these assessments into other currencies (US dollars/Chilean peso, dollar/Mexican peso and dollar/euro).

This follows a proposal published on Sept. 6 and a decision published on Sept. 23.

This change is intended to better capture the fundamentals of the Mexico and Chile I-RECs markets, which typically trade in US dollars and are then converted to other currencies.
