Platts adds JKM balance-month next-day against one-month forward derivative time spread eWindow instrument

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched an eWindow instrument for JKM balance-month next-day against one-month forward derivative time spread in its Market on Close assessment process, effective Oct. 16.

The new instrument appears on the eWindow as Platts APAC LNG Derivatives Spr -- (Bal Month (Dec)/Jan25) and is available during the pricing period of December JKM from Oct. 16 to Nov. 13. However, Platts will only publish bids, offers, and trades for this spread up to Nov. 7.

Platts communicated the decision to launch the eWindow instrument on Oct. 3, via a subscriber note here.

Platts publishes the JKM balance month-next day derivatives assessment from the first assessment day for a delivery month to the sixth last assessment day for the same delivery month.

The implied spreads functionality on eWindow is also enabled for this instrument. Further information is available in the FAQ document.

Platts previously informed the market of this functionality for its MOC for Asia-Pacific LNG derivatives on July 16 here.

Platts has established clearly defined timing guidelines and standards of incrementability that apply when publishing bids and offers in the MOC in order to ensure an orderly and transparent price assessment process, which can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/content/dam/spglobal/ci/en/documents/platts/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/lng/lng-timing-specifications.pdf
