Platts to discontinue Brazil aluminum DDP Southeast all-in calculation

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has decided to discontinue its weekly Brazil aluminum DDP Southeast all-in calculation, effective Dec. 29.

The decision, following a period of market feedback, is part of a wider review of Platts Brazil aluminum assessments, including a change to its existing DDP Southeast premium specifications to capture the growing importance of ICMS tax in Brazilian domestic P1020 transaction prices.

Platts first proposed the discontinuation on Sept. 23: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/092322-platts-proposes-to-discontinue-brazil-aluminum-ddp-southeast-all-in-calculation

The following assessment is affected by the discontinuation:

Aluminum transaction price DDP Southeast Brazil (all-in); MMADB04

Associated monthly and yearly averages will also be discontinued. The all-in price is calculated as the sum of Platts assessed DDP Southeast Brazil premium (MMABS04) and the London Metal Exchange settlement for a corresponding strip.

The assessments are published in Platts Metals Daily, Platts Metals Week Supplement, and Platts Metals Alert on page PMA 17, and in the Platts database.
