Platts to discontinue FOB Richards Bay 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal netback Jan. 5

S&P Global Platts has decided to discontinue the daily FOB Richards Bay 6,000 kcal/kg NAR netback thermal coal calculation, effective Jan. 5, 2022.

Platts has observed a shift towards thermal coals with lower calorific values, with the 6,000 kcal/kg NAR coal of South African origin no longer commonly traded in the region.
