S&P Global Platts clarifies that the February 2018 Cash BFOE assessment will be published for the last time on December 29, 2017. The first assessment in which March 2017 is M1 Cash BFOE will be published on January 2, the first working day of 2018.
Platts assessments of Cash BFOE are published throughout each month, with the assessments rolling forward at the end of each month. For example, the August 2018 contract will be published as M1 throughout June 2018, and will expire on the last working day of June. On the first working day of July 2018, September 2018 will become M1 Cash BFOE.
Platts Cash BFOE assessments typically coincide with the equivalent month of ICE Brent Futures. However, in December 2017, ICE Brent Futures for February are due to expire on December 28, rather than December 29. This is because trading on this contract is due to cease at 1930 GMT on December 28, ahead of the New Year's Eve holiday, whereas Platts will publish its final assessment of 2017 on December 29 at 1230 GMT as previously scheduled.
Platts will also publish a 1930 GMT Cash BFOE assessment in line with the expiration of the February 2018 ICE Brent contract on December 28.
However, in line with existing methodology and the previously announced publishing schedule, Platts will continue to publish an assessment for February 2018 Cash BFOE on December 29, 2017.
