Platts proposes to launch 8 daily Southeast Asia to West Coast India front haul, back haul container freight assessments Dec.1.

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch eight new daily spot container freight assessments effective Dec.1, extending market coverage to key trading lanes of Southeast Asia and West Coast India.

These assessments would provide a comprehensive view of spot container freight rates, distinctly categorizing the rates for containers transported by carriers as well as Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs). This approach aims to capture the dynamics of the two-tier market in its entirety.

The new assessments would cover the following routes:

Carrier Assessments:

Back Haul

NVOCC Assessments:

The proposed assessments would reflect the transactable value at 16:30 pm Indian Standard time, for transporting 20-feet equivalent or TEU and 40-feet equivalent, or FEU containers on those routes, for loading five to 25 days forward from the date of publication.

The assessments would be published in $/TEU and $/ FEU, and would follow the India publishing schedule.

Platts assesses key shipping regions under broad geographic descriptions.

The relevant descriptions for the routes are:

Southeast Asia: Hong Kong to Singapore;

West Coast India: Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Mundra;

These assessments would be published in Containers Daily; on Platts Shipping Alert pages SHP0510, SHP0514, SHP0511, PGT4000, PGT4006, PGT4001, and in the Platts pricing database under the symbol codes above.
