Platts proposes to change cargo size for LR2 Persian Gulf-UKC, Persian Gulf-Med clean tanker assessments Nov 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to change the cargo size for its LR2 Persian Gulf-UKC and LR2 Persian Gulf-Mediterranean clean tanker assessments from 75,000 metric tons to 90,000 metric tons to reflect the prevailing loading volume from Persian Gulf ports and deliveries to UK Continent and Mediterranean ports, effective Nov. 1, 2024.

Platts has observed nearly 440 LR2 tanker shipments on the Persian Gulf-UKC and Persian Gulf-Mediterranean routes from January 2022 to September 2024, with almost all of them having a cargo size of 90,000 metric tons. Platts has also gathered feedback from brokers, owners and charterers regarding the cargo size for these routes.

The two affected assessments appear in Clean Tankerwire, Monthly Clean Tankerwire, Platts Shipping Alert pages 320 and 321, and Platts Tanker Alert pages 2920 and 2921 under the price database codes below:
