Platts proposes to launch CFR India Bisphenol-A (BPA) and ex-tank China domestic assessment Dec 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing the launch of daily CFR India and ex-tank China domestic bisphenol-A (BPA) assessments, effective Dec. 1.

India's bisphenol-A imports have grown significantly since the start of 2021. The country imported 38,045 mt in H1 2022, 39,608 mt in H2 2022 and 45,746 mt in H1 2023, according to trade statistics by India's Department of Commerce.

In China, production capacity for bisphenol-A has ramped up extensively over the years, making China a key production hub for BPA .

The proposed assessments would reflect the product with the following specifications:

Phenol content 100 ppm max

Laycan: CFR India: Delivered 40-60 days forward from the date of assessment; Domestic China ex-tank: 7-10 days forward from the date of assessment

Basis: CFR India (Nhava Sheva, Hazira and Mundra) Cargoes received at other Indian ports may be considered and normalized accordingly;

Domestic China ex-tank: East China and Shandong. Other locations within China may also be considered for the assessment and may be normalized to reflect ex-tank basis East China.

Credit terms: CFR India: LC 90 days; Domestic China ex-tank: Telegraphic transfer (TT)-in-advance

Currency: CFR India: US dollar/mt; Domestic China ex-tank: Yuan/mt

Quantity: CFR India: Minimum 100 mt. The quantity is based off 4-5 full-container-load (FCL) in a twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), in jumbo bags filling at least 500 kg/bag. Domestic China ex-tank: Minimum 35 mt per lifting for loaded trucks

Platts will factor in the latest information sourced from the market up to the close of the Market on Close assessment process at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT). All market information reported to Platts, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant may be considered into the daily assessment process.
