Platts defines location of S.Europe flat steel assessments and indices as EXW Italy

Following market feedback, S&P Global Platts has defined the location basis of its Southern European domestic flat steel assessments and indices as ex-works Italy, effective Oct. 1, 2020.

Italy is the biggest producer and consumer of flat steel in Southern Europe, and Platts has observed an increased importance of the Italian flat steel market as a driver for the overall region.

The change involved renaming of the existing assessments and indices as follows:

The description and location basis of all associated conversions and averages have been changed accordingly.

The affected assessments are published on the fixed pages PMA/STL 1200, PMA/STL 1263, PMA/STL 1243 of the Platts real-time service, on Platts Market Center, in the Platts price database and in the Steel Business Briefing.
