Platts proposes to discontinue Kern River, Wyoming natural gas index

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, as part of its review of the Rocky Mountains region natural gas price indices, proposes to also discontinue the Kern River, Wyoming (IGBCL03) monthly gas index.

Platts seeks feedback on this proposal, which is now added to the original proposal published on Aug. 30, 2024, which can be found here.

To clarify, Platts is proposing to discontinue publishing the following locations: Northwest, Wyoming Pool (IGBDA03), Northwest, South of Green River (IGBYT03) and Kern River, Wyoming (IGBCL03) monthly indices, and the Northwest, Rocky Mountain Pool (IGBRW00) daily index.

Trades reported to these locations will continue to be mapped to other locations as per the relevant methodology.

The monthly indices would be discontinued starting with the March 2025 edition of the Inside FERC Gas Market Report First of Month, and the final values for the monthly indices would be published in the Feb. 1, 2025, edition of the First of Month report.

The daily index would be discontinued starting with next-day trading on March 28, 2025, for delivery on April 1, 2025.
