SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes publishing MX, toluene spreads to gasoline, more MX Europe laycans

S&P Global Platts is proposing to publish daily mixed xylene and toluene spreads to Eurobob gasoline swaps from November 22, 2017 to reflect the broad adoption of gasoline-related pricing in Europe.

The differentials would be assessed as a simple spread between MX or toluene prices for individual months and the corresponding Eurobob gasoline swaps value for that day.

Platts is also proposing to launch daily assessments of MX delivered on a CIF ARA basis within the current month (M1) and next month (M2).

Specifications for the new MX CIF ARA assessments would be fully aligned with the specification of the existing MX CIF ARA assessment. It would conform to the latest edition of ASTM D-843, with one or more isomers removed; the non-aromatics content set at the maximum of 2% and the maximum ethylbenzene content at 20%. There would be no limits on metaxylene, paraxylene and orthoxylene content. Minimum cargo size would be set at 1,000 mt with larger parcels normalized to 1,000 mt.
