Crude Oil
September 22, 2025
In line with evolving trends in the Johan Castberg loading schedule, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will amend the cargo size reflected in its Johan Castberg crude oil assessments to 800,000 barrels, effective Oct. 1.
A Johan Castberg schedule for October-loading cargoes has revealed uniform cargo sizes of 800,000 barrels, which is expected to establish a new standard volume for the grade, based on recent loading programs seen by Platts and feedback from market participants.
Accordingly, Platts will amend the cargo sizes reflected in its Johan Castberg CIF Rotterdam assessments to 800,000 barrels, effective Oct. 1. Platts currently reflects 700,000-barrel Johan Castberg parcels as standard in its assessments.
Platts launched its assessments for Johan Castberg on a CIF Rotterdam basis on June 23, 2025. The assessment reflects cargoes for delivery into Rotterdam 12 days to one month ahead from assessment date pricing five days after bill of lading as standard.
The assessments are published under the following symbol codes:
| Symbol | Description |
| JCCRO00 | Johan Castberg |
| JCCRO03 | Johan Castberg MAvg |
| JCCRN00 | Johan Castberg vs forward Dated Brent |
| JCCRN03 | Johan Castberg vs forward Dated Brent MAvg |
This follows a proposal published Sept. 15 and available here:
