S&P Global Platts will change the name and focus of some Americas crude oil market commentaries with effect from September 17. These changes will allow Platts to better reflect market developments and provide more relevant insight into Platts crude oil price assessments.
The US Gulf Coast Sweet Crude commentary on Platts Global Alert page 290 will be renamed US Gulf Coast Pipeline Crude, and will focus on Texas and Louisiana pipeline grades, including WTI Midland, WTI MEH, LLS and Mars.
US Gulf Coast Sour Crude on PGA 292 will be renamed US Gulf Coast Export Crude and will focus on waterborne exports of US crudes, with particular attention paid to Platts' suite of FOB USGC assessments for Bakken, Eagle Ford 45, Eagle Ford 52 and Midland-quality WTI.
US Shale Crude on PGA 295 will be renamed US Midcontinent Crude and will focus on Platts assessments of Bakken in the Williston Basin, at Clearbrook, Minnesota, and Guernsey, Wyoming. When relevant, the commentary will address the growing Rockies-area oil plays such as the Niobrara and DJ Basin, and Powder River Basin. Indications for White Cliffs, Niobrara, and Pony Express Light, for example, would feature in this commentary, as well trade at Cushing, Oklahoma.
US Sour Crude Aftermarket on PGA 287 will become US Export Crude Aftermarket and would include any transparent FOB USGC crude bids, offers or trades reported in the Platts Market on Close assessment process. Similarly, US Sweet Crude Aftermarket on PGA 291 will become US Pipeline Crude Aftermarket and would include transparent USGC pipeline crude bids, offers or trades reported in the Platts MOC.
These changes will be reflected in the page directory found on PGA 200. These commentaries also appear in the Platts publications Crude Oil Marketwire and North American Crude & Products Scan.
