S&P Global Platts is opening a formal consultation regarding a possible update to the typical load locations reflected in its FOB & CIF Mediterranean 0.1% gasoil cargoes assessments.
Specifically, Platts is consulting on the typical load locations of cargoes of 0.1% gasoil supplied into the Mediterranean. Currently a basket of typical loadports is used to derive the freight netback used to calculate the FOB Mediterranean 0.1% gasoil cargo assessment.
In addition, the reference freight basket may be used to normalize indications received in the 0.1% CIF Med gasoil cargo Market on Close process back to the reference port of Genoa. Currently the assessment uses a basket of Novorossiisk, Batumi and Malta.
Platts welcomes feedback from market participants regarding prevalent trade flows of 0.1% gasoil in the Mediterranean to ensure it continues to reflect representative flows in the region.
Throughout this consultation, Platts also seeks feedback on the timing of this potential methodology change.
