Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched 10 daily container bunker charge assessments (PBCs), complementing existing PBCs, to calculate bunker costs for key routes via the Cape of Good Hope (COGH). Platts also launched four daily carbon emission charge assessments reflecting carbon emission costs incurred via the Cape of Good Hope effective Sept. 2, 2024.
Platts initially proposed the launch of these assessments on June 28, 2024 and the subscriber note can be accessed here - https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/062824-platts-proposes-to-launch-10-daily-container-bunker-cost-assessments-and-four-daily-carbon-emission-charge-assessments
The assessments follow the 16:30 London timestamp and London publishing schedule.
The new PBCs reflect bunker costs based on transit via COGH. These assessments are in addition to the existing PBCs, which assess bunker costs via the Red Sea and Suez Canal. The monthly average for each route will be published effective Oct. 1, 2024 under the below mentioned symbols.
