Platts launches daily shrimp price assessments for Ecuador, India exports; EU, US imports

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily price assessments for shrimp in Ecuador, India, the EU and the US, effective Sept. 2.

Platts shrimp assessments from Ecuador and India bring price transparency to the two largest export markets, while the EU and the US are two of the main importing regions.

Platts' first seafood assessments complement the existing protein coverage of beef and poultry.

Ecuador Shrimp Marker (ESM)

The Ecuador assessment – Ecuador Shrimp Marker - reflects the value of farm-raised Vannamei, head-on, shell-on (HOSO) shrimp, semi-Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) with 30-40 pieces per kg, packed in boxes of 10 kg or 20 kg and loaded in 40-foot refrigerated containers of 20-23 mt net weight basis Guayaquil port. The assessment reflects the value of a minimum of one full container. Typical payment terms are cash against documents. Platts assesses prices for product loading 15-30 days forward from the date of assessment.

ESM is published in US dollars/mt as an outright price under the symbol VSFEA00 and the monthly average is published under the symbol VSFEA03.

HOSO Shrimp CIF EU

The HOSO Shrimp CIF EU assessment reflects the value of Vannamei, head-on, shell-on shrimp, semi-IQF with 30-40 pieces per kg, packed in 10kg boxes and loaded in 40-foot refrigerated containers of 20 mt net weight, basis the port of Le Havre, France.

The assessment reflects the value of a minimum of one full container. Platts assesses prices for product loading 15-45 days forward from the date of assessment.

The HOSO Shrimp CIF EU assessment is published in US dollars/mt as an outright price under the symbol VNMSE00. A monthly average will be published against the symbol VNMSE03.

PDTO Shrimp CIF US

The PDTO Shrimp CIF US price assessment reflects the value of Vannamei, peeled, deveined, tail-on (PDTO) shrimp, individually quick frozen with 16-20 pieces per lb, packed in 20 lb boxes a nd loaded in 40-foot refrigerated containers of 15-17 mt net weight basis the port of New York, US.

The assessment reflects the value of a minimum of one full container. Platts assesses prices for product loading 30-60 days forward from the date of assessment.

The PDTO Shrimp CIF US assessment is published in US dollars/mt as an outright price under the symbol ISFDA00. A monthly average will be published against the symbol ISFDA03.

PDTO Shrimp FCA India

Platts assessment for PDTO Shrimp FCA India reflects the value of farm-raised Vannamei, peeled, deveined, tail-on (PDTO) shrimp, individually quick frozen with 31-40 pieces per lb, packed in 10-40 lb boxes a nd loaded in 40-foot refrigerated containers of 15-20 mt net weight basis Visakhapatnam port, India.

The assessment reflects the value of a minimum of one full container. Platts assesses prices for product loading 30-60 days forward from the date of assessment.

The PDTO Shrimp FCA India assessment is published in US dollars/mt as an outright price under the symbol ISFCA00. A monthly average will be published against the symbol ISFCA03.
