Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily price assessments for certified UK subsidized waste feedstock biomethane guarantees of origin (GOs), also known as Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs), on Sept. 1, 2025.
This follows a proposal published on June 30, and a decision published on July 21.
This launch reflects the growing trade and increased fungibility of UK waste RGGOs that have attained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC). A growing number of UK production sites have now attained ISCC certification. Certified waste RGGOs also have greater access to continental European markets, given the increasing granularity of data provided by the Proof of Sustainability that accompanies certified volumes.
The new daily assessments are for current-year and year-ahead vintages for certified UK subsidized waste RGGOs and utilize the carbon intensity value definition for waste certificates of 25 g to 0 gCO2e/MJ, reflecting a minimum trade volume of 1 GWh.
The spot assessments reflect transactions for the current-year vintages where certificates have a minimum validity of three months from the date of transaction. The forward-year assessment reflects transactions for delivery in the next calendar year of contracts that are issued in that same calendar year.
The assessments are published in GBP/MWh, with a conversion published in Eur/MWh.
Certification is considered a voluntary standard achieved by a producer of biomethane, which the market accepts as improving fungibility of the associated guarantee of origin. This includes, but is not exclusive to, standards such as ISCC and REDCert.
The assessments are published to a 4:30 pm London timestamp and follow the UK holiday calendar.
The assessments can be found under the following symbol codes:
| Symbol | Description |
| ARGGA00 | UK RGGO Certified and Subsidized Waste Spot Eur/MWh |
| ARGGB00 | UK RGGO Certified and Subsidized Waste Spot GBP/MWh |
| ARGAY01 | UK RGGO Certified and Subsidized Waste Yr01 Eur/MWh |
| ARGBY01 | UK RGGO Certified and Subsidized Waste Yr01 GBP/MWh |
The new assessments can also be found on REC Daily and European Gas Daily, as well as the fixed pages PGN0876, PEP1107 and LNG0841.
