Platts updates 2022 RVP Calendar shifting Chicago gasoline to 11.5 RVP Sept. 2

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has updated its 2022 RVP Calendar to reflect changes to Chicago RVP shift dates.

All Chicago gasoline assessments will shift to 11.5 RVP on Sept. 2 based on the Buckeye Complex schedule, Environmental Protection Agency RVP waiver and market feedback.

The first fall shift will take place two weeks earlier than originally scheduled as the EPA began allowing 11.5 RVP gasoline to be sold in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin as of Aug. 27 and Buckeye Complex began accepting 11.5 RVP product on Sept. 1.

Summer RVP restrictions were lifted earlier than normal following an electrical fire at BP's 435,000 b/d Whiting, Indiana, refinery that impacted crude units and reformers.
