Platts to amend basis ports of weekly CFR South Asia polyethylene assessments

S&P Global Platts has decided to amend the basket of ports used as the price basis for its weekly CFR South Asia high density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene and metallocene C6 LLDPE assessments to India's Nhava Sheva and Mundra ports, effective Oct. 6, 2021.

Platts first proposed the amendment in a subscriber note published on July 27, 2021: https://bit.ly/3ycoMkx

Platts understands that a vast majority of spot supplies of polyethylene into South Asia are delivered into Nhava Sheva and Mundra. The amendment to the basis ports would better reflect the current trade flow. Bids, offers and trade indications for delivery into other South Asian ports may be normalized to the proposed standard.

Currently, Platts CFR South Asia polyethylene assessments reflect deliveries into Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Nhava Sheva and Pakistan's Karachi.

Platts publishes CFR South Asia polyethylene assessments in $/mt at the close of Asian trade at 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT) every Wednesday.

The affected assessments can be found on Platts Petrochemical Alert fixed pages 530, 274, 245, 270 and 411, on the Platts Platform and Platts Market Center, in the Polymerscan, in the Asian Petrochemical Scan or APS and in the Platts database under the codes listed below:
