SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to amend Panama Canal LNG fee to 21 cents/MMBtu

S&P Global Platts will amend the cost of transiting LNG via the Panama Canal to 21 cents/MMBtu, up 3 cents from the previous estimate of 18 cents/MMBtu.

This is due to an increase of the toll by early October, approved by the Panama Canal Council in early August. As a result, Platts will increase the LNG freight routes that use the Panama Canal by 3 cents/MMBtu.

These changes will feed through to netback calculation used to assess the Gulf Coast Marker (GCM) symbol LGCSM01, where netback calculations using the most economic route may be used as the basis for the assessment, and which are published in Platts LNG Daily and on the Natural Gas Alert page 1025, from September 18, 2017.
