SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to discontinue weekly FOB China Tungsten prices

Platts is proposing to discontinue publication of the weekly FOB China Ferrotungsten Price (MMAHL00), and the weekly FOB China Tungsten APT Price (MMAHF00) by December 31, 2014. Spot export activity for ferrotungsten has significantly fallen due to an export duty of 20%, and APT trade has been impacted as it is the main raw material for ferrotungsten production. Chinese domestic production has also reduced due to government regulations which limited export licenses, export quotas, mining and explorations. Preliminary market research shows that the China prices are no longer representative in the industry. Should the discontinuation be finalized after further industry consultation, the final values for both these prices will be published on December 18, 2014.
