SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to launch new FOB Singapore 95 RON gasoline assessments

In response to market demand, S&P Global Platts will launch an FOB Singapore 95 RON gasoline cash differential and derivatives assessments with effect from Sept. 2, 2019.

This cash differential, which will follow the same methodology applied to the current Mean of Platts FOB Singapore 92 RON cash differential assessment, will be published under the heading "FOB Singapore ($/barrel)" and be labeled as "Gasoline 95 unleaded premium/discount".

Platts has been publishing outright assessments for 95 RON gasoline on an FOB Singapore basis since June 2, 1993. In addition, Platts has been publishing the FOB Singapore 95 RON spread against the Singapore naphtha MOPS strip since Jan. 3, 2005.

Alongside the physical assessments, Platts will also publish new assessment values comprising three monthly derivatives assessments. These include a balance month derivative contract, a month 1 derivative contract and month 2 derivatives contract, with rollovers equivalent to the 92 RON derivative market. These derivatives settle on the average of Platts FOB Singapore 95 RON outright gasoline assessments.

Platts will publish a MOPS "strip" value. The strip will reflect the average of daily swap values over a 16-day period, 15-30 days from the day of publication.

The strip value published by Platts in certain oil markets represents the value the market assigns to future Platts assessments, through trading in physical or derivatives instruments on strip-related prices. This value is determined by analyzing the derivatives market.

All the price assessments will reflect the tradable value of these contracts at 4:30 pm Singapore time.
