Merchantability of gasoline in Platts Singapore MOC, assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, would like to remind market participants that Platts assessments reflect material that is of merchantable quality.

All cargoes reflected in the Platts FOB Singapore gasoline assessments and Market on Close assessment process must at all times be deemed to fall within industry standards including merchantability of the product.

Grades which are not widely merchantable -- for instance, gasoline with unusual additives, including MMT, secondary butyl acetate and other acetates such as methyl acetate above trace levels, or unusually high quantities of certain additives or blendstocks which are not typical -- will not be reflected in the assessments.

Platts understands that gas chromatography tests are typically used by market participants to detect certain additives like secondary butyl acetate and methyl acetate in gasoline.
