Platts updates basis location for Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has updated the basis location for the Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea assessment, effective July 28, 2023.

Platts has updated the basis for the FOB assessment to the Ukrainian ports of Izmail and Reni, in line with market feedback regarding a continued lack of trading liquidity at the port of Chornomorsk.

This update follows a proposal note published on July 21, available here:

The Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea Ukraine is published in the Platts database under symbol SFWBL00, in the Platts Agriculture Alert page 1810 and in the Daily Grains report.

In a subscriber note published July 15, 2022, Platts initially designated Reni/Izmail as alternative ports for the assessment at times when the port of Chornomorsk was not operational. That subnote is available here.

Platts will also continue to monitor Sunflower Oil trade flows from the region, seek market feedback and announce any changes or clarifications through subscriber notes.
