Platts launches daily R-PET premium grade pellets FOB India assessment on July 5

Following industry feedback, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a daily spot assessment for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) pellets premium grade for bottle grade applications on an FOB India basis, effective July 5.

Platts has observed the growing production capacity of recycled PET pellets in India and greater demand for pricing transparency in the region.

The assessment is based on the latest information sourced from the market up to the close of the assessment process at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT).

It is published in $/mt and follows the India publishing schedule.

The assessment reflects the product with the following parameters:

Volume: 20-200 mt

Quality: R-PET clear food grade pellets: Intrinsic viscosity of 0.8, post consumer feedstock origin and 100% clear in color

Laycan: Loading 10-21 days forward from the date of publication

Location basis: FOB India, basis Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Hazira. Platts may also take into consideration pricing information from other ports in India, and may normalize them to West India ports for the assessment.

Payment terms: Direct debit (other payment terms may be normalized to the proposed standard)

Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms may be normalized to the proposed standard.

The assessment is published alongside Platts' existing recycled plastics assessments in the Polymerscan, Asia PetrochemicalScan as well as on the Platts real-time petrochemical service, Platts Market Center and Platts Dimensions Pro.

Platts published the decision to launch the daily spot assessment for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) pellets premium grade for bottle grade applications on an FOB India basis in a subscriber note published on June 3, available here.
