Platts extends consultation on potential automotive grade urea, diesel exhaust fluid assessments

Platts, part of S&P Commodity Insights, is extending its consultation on automotive urea and diesel exhaust fluid markets until Sept. 13.

Diesel exhaust fluid, marketed as AdBlue in Europe and North America, is produced by combining low-biuret urea and deionized water, and can be added to diesel engines to reduce harmful nitric-oxide emissions.

As the global transport and diesel industry moves towards a more sustainable future, DEF -- and automotive urea -- is becoming an increasingly important feature in helping to prevent toxic emissions from diesel engines.

Market feedback suggests an appetite to understand market value, including at a retail level. Platts seeks feedback relating to loading ports, typical cargo size, and other terms of trade and relevant pricing parameters.

Platts initially opened this consultation on April 18 in a subscriber note available here https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/041824-platts-opens-consultation-on-potential-automotive-urea-diesel-exhaust-fluid-assessments

Please send any questions and comments to Fertilizer@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by Sept. 13.
