Platts to launch four Southeast Asia-North America fronthaul, backhaul container PBX rates

S&P Global Platts will launch four Platts Bunker-Excluded (PBX) container spot rates for Southeast Asia to North America fronthaul and backhaul routes, effective Sept. 1, 2021, to complement its existing suite of container box rates and Platts Bunker Charge assessments on these routes.

The new PBX assessments will reflect the value of transporting 40-foot equivalent containers for loading five to 25 days' forward on those routes, excluding the cost of bunker fuel. They will be calculated by subtracting the existing Platts Bunker Charge assessments from the container box rate assessments on the respective routes.

The new PBX assessments are:

PBX 23 Southeast Asia - West Coast North America

PBX 24 West Coast North America - Southeast Asia

PBX 25 Southeast Asia - East Coast North America

PBX 26 East Coast North America - Southeast Asia

The assessments, to be published in $/FEU, will reflect the transactable value at the Asian market close of 5:30 pm Singapore time (0930 GMT), and follow the Singapore publishing schedule.
