Platts launches daily battery grade manganese sulfate DDP China assessment

In response to market demand, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a daily battery grade manganese sulfate DDP China assessment in Yuan/mt and an accompanying conversion to $/mt, effective July 18, 2022.

Platts has observed growing demand for manganese sulfate in battery manufacturing, which will play a critical role in energy dense electric vehicles. Market feedback is that the publication of an assessment for battery grade manganese sulfate would bring transparency and improve understanding to market operations, especially as there has not been comprehensive coverage of manganese sulfate relative to other battery metals so far.

The new assessment reflects the spot market value of battery grade manganese sulfate at 1630 Singapore time. The assessment considers market information reported to Platts and published throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, transactions and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process. Full description of the Platts assessments methodology and data hierarchy can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/plattscontent/_assets/_files/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/platts-assessments-methodology-guide.pdf
