Platts proposes to launch eight Asia to Australia front-haul, backhaul container freight assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch eight new daily spot container freight assessments from Sept. 1, 2023, extending market coverage to key trading lanes in both North Asia and Southeast Asia to Australia.

The new assessments would cover the following routes, and would be published under these codes:

The proposed assessments would reflect the transactable value at 1730 Singapore time, for transporting 40-feet equivalent, or FEU, containers on those routes, for loading five to 25 days forward from the date of publication. The assessments would be published in $/FEU and would follow the Singapore publishing schedule.

Platts assesses key shipping regions under broad geographic descriptions.

The relevant descriptions for the routes are:

North Asia: Tokyo to Hong Kong

Southeast Asia: Hong Kong to Singapore

These assessments will be published in Platts Dry Freight Wire and Dry Freight Wire Monthly; on Platts Shipping Alert pages SHP0510, SHP0514, SHP0511, PGT4000, PGT4006, PGT4001, and in the Platts pricing database under the symbol codes above.
