Platts is proposing to discontinue publication of the weekly in-warehouse Singapore premiums for copper (MMAMU00), nickel (MMANC00) and zinc (MMANE00) by October 2, 2017. Spot activity for copper, nickel and zinc has significantly fallen in recent years. Stocks in LME-approved warehouses in Singapore have also remained low, with limited inventories available as a majority was tied to financing. Preliminary market research shows that these premiums are no longer the most relevant pricing basis for these metals.
As part of this process, Platts is opening up a review to evaluate possible alternative pricing bases. Should the discontinuation be finalized after further industry consultation, the final values for both these prices will be published on September 29, 2017. Please send all questions and feedback to alvin.yee@platts.com, yuencheng.mok@spglobal.com and pricemethodology@platts.com by July 21, 2017. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing.
Platts will consider all comments received and will make those not marked as confidential available upon request.
