Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has started publishing a combustion emissions factor for LNG delivered into north Asia, effective July 3, 2023.
The emissions factor represents the amount of greenhouse gases calculated to be emitted during the end-use combustion of a typical LNG cargo. The number reflects the combustion leg of a LNG trade in north Asia. This factor is based on the standard 3.4 TBtu LNG cargo delivered into the JKTC market, with GHV 1030-1130 Btu/scf, maximum total sulfur content of 5 mg/Nm3 and maximum ethane content of 10%/mol, matching Platts JKM quality and quantity specifications.
Platts decided to launch these assessments May 23 via a subscriber note available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/052323-platts-to-publish-combustion-emissions-factor-for-lng-in-north-asia-from-july-3-2023
The new value is published in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, or tCO2e, under the symbol ACNLK00. The combustion emissions factor value is also published in LNG Daily, on Platts Dimensions Pro, as well as on page 3000 of the LNG alert service.
