Platts begins publication of 12 GMT, 16:30 London assessments of Xpansiv and CME CBL Carbon Offsets

Platts, a division of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has begun publishing assessments of the Xpansiv CBL and CME CBL carbon offset contracts to 12 GMT and 16:30 London timestamps from July 1, 2022.

Platts is now publishing daily spot market assessments for the four Xpansiv CBL carbon offset spot contracts (GEO, N-GEO, C-GEO and C-GEO Trailing) and three forward months and two December months of the CME CBL future contracts (GEO, N-GEO and C-GEO) to a 12 GMT timestamp. Platts is also publishing Xpansiv CBLs N-GEO spot contract and three forward months and two December months of the N-GEO CME CBL future contract to a 16:30 London timestamp to coincide with the London market close. These assessments are separate from the 2:30 New York settlement prices for these contracts also published by Platts.

A proposal was made May 3, 2022, and available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/050322-s-p-global-proposes-12-gmt-assessments-of-xpansiv-and-cme-cbl-carbon-offsets

For example, on July 5, 2022, Platts will publish spot market assessments for Xpansiv CBL GEO, N-GEO, C-GEO and C-GEO trailing using bids, offers and trades reported on the Xpansiv CBL exchange. Platts will also publish the July, August, September, December 2022 and December 2023 CME CBL forward contracts for GEO, N-GEO and G-GEO using bids, offers and trades reported on the NYMEX exchange.

Platts will assess the Xpansiv CBL GEO, N-GEO, C-GEO and C-GEO trailing spot contracts by looking at the most competitive bids and offers shown on the Xpansiv exchange, and the CME CBL GEO, N-GEO and C-GEO futures by looking at the most competitive bids and offers shown through the NYMEX exchange. These assessments are benchmarked to 1200 GMT with additional 16:30 London assessments for the N-GEO spot and N-GEO CME CBL futures -- and would follow the Xpansiv CBL and CME holiday calendar.
