Platts decides to amend freight calculation in 'Export price equivalent – ex-works' European sugar assessment

S&P Global Platts has decided to amend the freight calculation in the 'Export price equivalent – ex-works' assessment (SGBCC00), effective July 29.

This follows a proposal note, which was published on June 1 here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/060121-platts-proposes-amendment-to-freight-calculation-in-the-export-price-equivalent-ex-works-european-sugar-assessment

The assessment is calculated using a price of Eur30/mt for freight, which is described in the methodology and specifications guide as an average cost to bring sugar to Antwerp from mills across Continental Europe.

Platts has decided to remove the fixed nature of the freight cost, allowing the freight value to be amended on an ongoing basis. Platts has also decided to specify 'mills in Northwest Europe' instead of 'mills across Continental Europe', following market feedback.
