S&P Global Platts has launched a new daily Asia recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) flakes FOB Southeast Asia assessment on July 1, 2020, in light of market demand for greater transparency and increasing consumer demand for recycled plastics.
The daily recycled PET flakes FOB Southeast Asia assessment is published in $/mt and reflects cargo sizes of 20–200 mt for loading 3-21 days forward from the date of publication, from Port Klang in Malaysia, Bangkok in Thailand and Jakarta in Indonesia.
Price information on loadings from other ports within Southeast Asia may be taken into consideration for the assessment.
The assessment also reflects standard market payment terms.
Platts will take into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the Platts Market on Close assessment process at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT).
The assessment follows the Singapore publishing schedule.
The assessment reflects a recycled PET flakes quality specification based on an intrinsic viscosity (IV) level of 0.70–0.78, PVC content of 50-100 ppm and 100% clear in color.
Platts may also take into consideration recycled PET of other specifications and may normalize price information to the standard specifications reflected for the assessment.
These assessments appear on the Asian Petrochemicalscan, Polymerscan and Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 409, 574, 441, under the following price database symbols:
The daily rationale for the daily assessment is published in PCA page 731, while the weekly commentary is published in PCA page 730.
The weekly average will be published every Wednesday.
