Platts to add new natural gas OTC indices for Canadian locations

Following a period of market feedback, S&P Global Platts launches new daily and monthly OTC natural gas indices for locations in Canada.

These locations are specifically where transactions reported by data providers were not executed on the ICE NGX exchange. Platts will publish the volume weighted average index, total volume, and deal count of these reported trades.

The daily OTC indices will be launched on June 28 for July 1 gas flow and the monthly OTC indices will be launched on July 31 for August bidweek.

The daily OTC indices will be published as soon as all daily trades have been submitted by data providers and Platts has reviewed the trades for anomalous data. The proposed monthly OTC indices will be published on the last day of bidweek as soon as all bidweek trades have been submitted by data providers and Platts has reviewed the trades for anomalous data.

Please note that transactions executed on the ICE NGX exchange will not be included in the proposed indices as the intention behind this is to increase transparency around trading activity in the OTC markets in Canada.

Platts will publish the OTC indices for the TCPL Alberta, AECO-C, Dawn, Ontario, Westcoast Station 2, Northwest, Canadian Border (Sumas), and Emerson, Viking locations.
