S&P Global Platts will update the port charges for Port Hedland used in the calculation of its Capesize Port Hedland, Western Australia to Qingdao, China time charter equivalent (TCE) assessments, effective July 1, following an announcement by the Pilbara Ports Authority.
With this change, the port costs for Port Hedland used in the relevant TCE calculations will increase to $172,000 from July 1, from $160,000 currently.
The Pilbara Ports Authority, which operates Port Hedland, said it would levy revised port charges from July 1, 2021, in a notice issued June 1, 2021.
The change will affect the following assessments:
These assessments appear in Dry Freight Wire; on Platts Shipping Alert pages 612, 613, 614 and 615, and on Platts Tanker Alert pages 3970, 3971, 3972 and 3973, as well as in the Platts price database under the codes above.
