Following a period of market consultation, Platts launched the revised and new weekly CIF Med 75kt and CIF Med 45kt thermal coal assessments on June 17, 2019, to increase liquidity and account for freight and sulfur differences for thermal coal delivered into the region.
Platts renamed its CIF Turkey assessment (CTCMT04) to CIF Med 75kt, expanding its geographical area with a basis port change to Iskenderun from Marmara, Turkey and broadened its sulfur range from 0.5%-3% sulfur.
