Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, would like to clarify that cargoes with pre-blended ethanol are not considered fungible in its European gasoline cargo and barge Market on Close assessment processes.

Platts understands cargoes with pre-blended ethanol are considered non-fungible in the wider market given the hydroscopic properties of ethanol which restrict its demand into a critical mass of European disports. This clarification applies to the following assessment:
