SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to discontinue publication of NSSC ferrochrome price

S&P Global Platts is proposing to discontinue publication of Japan's Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corp. (NSSC) quarterly ferrochrome price (symbol code: MMAEV00).

The quarterly price is no longer provided as an outright price value, nor are specifications of the contract settlement. Additionally, feedback from the market has indicated that the NSSC price is not reflective of the majority of contract values.

Platts publishes several spot ferrochrome assessments for Asian markets, including 60%-65% high carbon spot CIF Japan, Charge Chrome 48%-52% CIF China and 58%-60% High Carbon CIF China.

Platts proposes to discontinue publishing the NSSC quarterly price from January 3, 2017.

Platts seeks transparent information to underpin its spot market price assessments and quarterly contract settlement values.
