Platts clarifies updated aluminum tariff rate applied to P1020A US Import Duty calculation, reflecting 50% from June 4

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, clarifies that its P1020A US Import Duty calculation reflects the 50% duties applied to Canadian aluminum, effective June 4, 2025.

President Donald Trump on June 3 signed an executive order doubling tariffs under US Section 232 for aluminum imports into the US from all origins, effective June 4.

As a result, Platts P1020A US Import Duty calculation reflects a 50% total tariff, meaning the tariff factor and tariff multiplier used in the calculation from June 4 are 1.5 and 0.5, respectively.

The P1020A US Import Duty (MMOEU00) is used to calculate US Midwest Implied Duty Unpaid indicators, including: Aluminum P1020 MW US Transaction Premium (Implied Duty-Unpaid) delivered US Midwest (MMOFU00) and Aluminum P1020 Transaction Price (Implied Duty-Unpaid) delivered US Midwest (MMOGU00).

Further details can be found here(opens in a new tab).

The calculation and indicators are published in Metals Daily and Metals Week, specifically on the PMA413 and MTL413 fixed pages, and in the Platts pricing database.
