Platts launches daily Europe PTA FD NWE spot price assessment, discontinues Europe PTA contract price calculation

Platts, part of S&P Commodity Insights, has launched a new daily purified terephthalic acid spot price assessment and discontinued its European purified terephthalic acid contract price calculations effective June 3.

To continue providing insight into the PTA market in Europe, Platts has introduced a daily European PTA spot assessment. The assessment is derived by multiplying the daily spot paraxylene price (AAILD00) by 0.66 and adding an assessed premium.

The PTA contract price discontinuation followed Platts' decision to discontinue the European paraxylene monthly contract price on May 31.

The symbols impacted by the discontinuation are the PTA FD NWE Monthly CP Eur/mt - AACVW00, and the PTA FD NWE Monthly CP monthly average- AACVX00.
